About us - One year on


Brown's opened the doors of 15 Mansell Street a little over a year ago and what a year it has been. We have looked back over the time and have put down a few words.


A few words from ‘the boss’
I think Mel will agree with me when I say that Brown’s has exceeded all of our expectations. We’ve had a tremendous first year, and we both consider ourselves to be very lucky.  I can honestly say that our dream when we first opened has been more than realised.  Our vision when we opened was that we wanted Brown’s to be an extension of our home.  We wanted customers to become friends.  We wanted to be accessible enough that we weren’t just ‘a thought’ for a special occasion, in fact we didn’t want anyone to think – we wanted them to come along and see for themselves.

Tennerfest was, I think, our turning point, and what started out to be the most daunting six weeks of my life, really put us on the map!  Finally people started to think of us as ‘Brown’s’ and not ‘the one that used to be ‘Rosarios’.  And so, a year on, we have a lovely homely restaurant, great regular customers who we really do consider to be friends, a fabulous team that I for one am incredibly proud of, and a diary that is already looking like it’s seen better days, and it’s only February!  


Even fewer words from Mel
For those of you who know me well, you will appreciate that saying just a few words is very out of character!  However, needs must as it really has been a great year and I wanted to record my thanks to all. There are lots of things going on at the moment and following a short break last month where we managed to tick a few things off of our ever growing 'to do' list! it is now time to think of spring and longer days.

Funny to say, but for once I agree with ‘the boss’, we’ve had a phenomenal first year, and now it’s heads down as we strive to improve on what we’ve achieved so far. For 2009 we are looking at building on our popular menus with exciting new specials using only the freshest local ingredients wherever possible. I plan to put more of these dishes online and have made great start on my on line recipe book!

So here it is - Thanks to you all for your support, your feedback, your suggestions and of course, your custom! I hope to see each and every one of you in the coming year.
